Landing Page Design Brief

Task Brief

1. Uncoded design of website homepage
2. Based on the homepage layout, design a Listings page
3. Two pages in total: Homepage and Listings (venue) page

Other websites that have a close business theme are: clubplanet, eventful, and thescene. Another site that has something similar is clubnights.com. However, we are not interested in their designs and so they should not be imitated.

You need to design a homepage and listing (venue) page for a site that will be a nightlife website. This will be a directory with similar features to yelp. The website size should be similar to yelp’s (at least width-wise). We are interested in seeing how the background colors and design will look like.

Your theme should be nightlife and the design web 2.0. Choices of colors are up-to you but we are biased towards the red as used on last.fm and snow white. Choose font colors that compliment the rest of the site. Web 2.0 fonts will be ideal (when chosen as a finalist you will have to provide a list fonts used and where used).

We will reward nice layout and creativity (choice of colors, fonts, buttons, column heading bars, good integration of ad frames, etc.

• We will want to have the following as part of the design. Use images to enhance the design.
o Sponsored venues (A photo of a venue, venue name and location)
o Sponsored events (A flyer image, venue name, location, day and time and links to: view event page, book table, buy tickets and share of various social sites)
o Latest reviewers (we need a photo and some details like the review in brief….)
o Featured profiles (This will showcase member profiles. It should show a photo, brief bio and link to member page)
o Sponsored event flyers (see how they display on www.myenls.com)
o Recent members (we want to display using thumbnail photo images about 30 photos on the homepage)
o Hot spots (3 at any given time. Use venue photo, name and location. A statement that says “based on total bookmarks”
o Recent reviews (have these be at least 10 latest reviews with thumbnail photo. This is on yelp too)
o Featured coupon (display of a featured coupon similar to how groupon does it)
o We’ll have a bottom position that shows sponsors. Name this position “sponsors”. It will display in a similar way as it does on http://www.kxip.in/
o Footer position will have the links: About “Company name” | Advertise With Us | FAQ | Newsletter | Privacy Policy | Terms and Conditions | Contact Us | Feedback
o Create room on your page for banners as follows: Bottom banner (468 x 60), Half banner (234 x 60), Microbar (88 x 31), and Medium rectangle (300 x 250)

Listing (venue) page design

Our listing page should be built to have features similar to the listing pages on: yelp.com and the scene.com. However, unlike these two, our design should be unique and nightlife in theme. The design for this page will have some Facebook social plugins incorporated in it. Facebook social plugins can be seen at: http://www.hsiet.com/winery/storybar.html

• The homepage features that will not change are:
o Prominent Logo area

o Mobile App download
o Sign up/Sign in/Forgot password

• “Share this” icons (see how used on deals on livingsocial) on the opposite side of Facebook “like this”
• Buttons for: claim this listing, sponsor listing? feature listing?
• We need a photo gallery of members who visit this venue on this page and a link to “add photos” just below the gallery.
• Sections for: venue description, venue overview and coupons. For coupons display, see groupon.com or livingsocial.com
• A column for “Nearby venues” See how it is displayed on thescene.com just as an example.
• A column for “Members who go here, also visit”. To display in a similar way to nearby venues.
• Footer position will have the links: About “Company name” | Advertise With Us | FAQ | Newsletter | Privacy Policy | Terms and Conditions | Contact Us | Feedback
