Logo Design Brief

We are looking for a logo for our catamaran named KUMA. Kuma is japanese for bear. We had a bear logo for out last boat name Out of the Woods and the design files for that are below. We really like that logo and want a variation of it that conveys:
connection to nature, courage, strength, exploration, perseverance, motherly protection and has a some Japanese influences.
We are a family of 5 and are headed from California to New Zealand via Europe on our catamaran.

There are two files I uploaded that have Kuma in the title. They show the elevation of the boat on which this work will be applied and should be used for the new designs.
