Web Design Brief
We need a website design for a new bespoke and unique business making gourmet cupcakes - but MOST IMPORTANTLY we design and handmake cupcake wrappers and toppers specifically for each client's event. We are based in Sydney, Australia. The final resulting website should be elegant yet whimsical reflecting the notion of dreams and very elegant events eg weddings and very special parties.
We want to eventually have about 5 pages, HOWEVER, this project is specifically for the first page (ie Home page) and one other only. The final required pages are: a HOME page; ABOUT US page; PHOTO GALLERY page; FLAVOUR MENU & OTHER PRODUCTS page; CONTACT & INTERNET ENQUIRY page.
We expect the HOME page to be quite elaborate, perhaps including some animation. We will be providing the text content for all the other pages, and basically they will have the same background as the home page. We are looking for a clean design that runs across each page thus giving the website a continuity that pulls it all together. We would like our logo to be included on each page.
PLEASE NOTE: We will want multiple pages worked on in the handover phase but initially we want a very concise, consistent template to limit the amount of work to prospective designers.
While we are primarily looking for the design phase to be covered by this project, we would certainly appreciate coding to be included and will take that into consideration when choosing a winner.

Requirements
Must have
- It must have our Logo (see attached upload) on each page (our logo is a butterfly atop a cupcake resting on a spoon and our motto is "Creating Delicious Works of Art". The colours used are pale pink, blue and chocolate brown and we'd expect these colours to be repeated in the final website.
The website must have a photo gallery which we can access and add to/change as our business grows.
We need a contact page which has an "internet enquiry form".
There should be a "Menu" page describing our cupcake flavours.
The Home page must have a party/event feel to it - definitely making an enquirer want to enter further into the site.
Nice to have
- Our logo is attached below in the "uploads". One idea that we have had is to use the butterfly in the logo but start it as a caterpillar crawling on the screen; as it spins it's cocoon the words "Sweet Dreams Little Caterpillar" would appear on screen; this would incorporate the "Dreams" in our Business Name; then our logo butterfly would hatch. This encapsulates the idea of taking something plain (caterpillar/cupcake) and creating something beautiful (butterfly/OUR cupcake).
However, we are open to other design ideas.
The colours we would like to have are pale pink, blue and chocolate brown in the design.
Some websites we really admire are: www.clarafrench.com www.scissorspapercake.com.au and www.hellonaomi.com.au
These websites have a lightness and sense of fantasy to them. They do not convey a corporate image at all, rather they make you want to be at the party.
Should not have
- No "Corporate" style.
Most Important: We already have a website which we are not happy with - that is why we are going through this exercise to replace it. That means we DO NOT want anything along the lines of our current website. We are expecting some fresh ideas for our prize money.
