Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a start-up translation company "City Translations". We translate financial and legal documents (e.g. annual reports, contracts, press releases) from German and Dutch to English and the other way round (if you find our website, please ignore its style, the right logo will dictate the future look of the website, not the other way round).
The logo should be a simple, abstract design and work against a white background. It specifically needs to fit well in the 300x100 pixel space that WordPress websites allow for logos - but it will also need to be adaptable for use in other places.
The design should suggest to clients that we're a vibrant, modern company (but think more vibrant modern hedge fund than cool new Internet business here). The logo should not be cartoony, as it has to appeal to clients who work in large respectable banks and law firms.
Particularly favoured dominant colours are bright orange (like Easyjet) and black or bright yellowish green (like the colour of new leaves on a tree in spring illuminated by sunlight) and black. Circular or round shapes are also particularly favoured.
I specifically will also need:
* a version on a transparent background (.png?),
* a version of the logo that doesn't include the words City Translations
* a non-colour version of the logo

Requirements

Must have

• Transparent background - with the expectation that it will primarily be used against white backgrounds.
  A simple feel to the logo.

Nice to have

• A very simple modern font such as Euphemia for the words or possibly a more old-fashioned font such as Garamond - to convey a sense of connection with the past and realiablity, while the abstract design of the image at the same time suggests vibrancy and modernity.

Should not have

• Highly complex design.
