Background to the project to help with logo design is that the project is aiming to identify drivers of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) transmission in Merseyside. Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) occurs when bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites change over time and no longer respond to medicines. The project will track AMR through surveillance in Liverpool Merseyside, UK to identify the risk factors, particularly looking at vulnerable adults requiring admission to hospital and those in residential or nursing home care who are at particular risk of acquisition of these AMR bacteria/viruses etc and also more likely to have exposure to antibiotics. It will also look at major transmission routes of AMR genes and bacteria between the community, care facilities and hospitals. After the research has taken place, the project will then aim to advise on ways that care homes and hospital can reduce transmission of AMR and reduce the drivers that enable AMR. Read more
