The Interlake Pioneer Trail. Is a outdoor recreation trail. It is located near the Prime meridian of Canada or the center of Canada. Which runs South North stretching across 4 communities. The trail runs from Grosse Isle to Fisher Branch. It is approximately 116km (72miles) in length and 20 feet in wide. This website show in the center the map of the trail previously known as the Prime meridian trail. http://www.canadatrails.ca/tct/tctmb.html
The Trail starts in the lush tall grass prairies of the Red River Valley and runs through farmland wetlands, limestone outcrops, aspen parklands, and boreal forest. The trail also boasts over 240 species of flora, 170 species of birds, 31 species of mammals, 4 species of amphibians, and 3 species of reptiles.
The trail was previously a train route in order to transport goods. The railway tracks have been removed and a rock rail bed exists.
Which now the trail acts as multiuse/recreational trail. Accommodating many year round outdoor enthusiasts.
Trail users are: mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, ATV’s Quaders. (not trucks or 4x4) and in winter the trail is used by snowmobilers as a designated snowmobile trail route on the Provincial snowmobile trail network. As well as cross country skiing, snowshoeing, dog sledding users.
The logo would be used along the trail signage. As well as in communications.
Trail Sign's are a Blue Sign with White writing.
