Our existing logo is out of date and no longer reflects our business. The Cottage in the Wood is a 17th Century 'Restaurant with Room' located in Whinlatter, England's only Mountain Forest.
I am thinking along the lines of a Banner style logo using some colours that reflect the location, green, blue and perhaps yellow. These could be used as 'swirls' or something similar. For our new signage, I intend to use local stone embedded in the ground (like a standing stone, perhaps?) with our name engraved in the stone, probably using a Celtic style font (the area is a an old Celtic region. This could be used in the logo. Although our business operates from a 17th C property, the interior is 'classic' and chic. We offer a modern 'Boutique' style ambience
Update.
Thanks to all who have forwarded ideas so far. I have fine tuned my thinking a little more. Please see http://www.borrowdale-gates.com/stayatborrowdale.htm. If you go into menus, then breakfast you will see a skyline as a backgound. This holds some appeal for me. I am also drawn to the colourful swirls that can be seen on the following website http://dadi-online.com/contact_dadi.php. The colours I want to use are vibrant green, blue and perhaps yellow. Green & blue representing the countryside/trees and blue for the sky/lakes. Yellow, I like! And the area we are in is associated with daffodils (and full of in flower Gorse bushes just at the moment. As mentioned earlier, I am drawn to a Celtic style font. The one we use currently is not righ (see www.thecottageinthewood.co.uk). I am planning on new signage that will comprise 3/4 pieces of local stone (erected in the form of standing stones)with the name engraved onto these.
I hope I am not too prescriptive. It is not my desire to stifle the creativity of those with the 'gift'. I really want something for the 21st Century that will capture attention. I am attaching an image of the Mountain we look out on. This may help for anyone who is inspired by the skyline (note it is a winter image tho')
