Label Design Project - Exciting New Product for Kids Crafts

This is a bit confusing of a post. Do you have a vector image (or any image) of your logo? How are you printing? a sleeve to fit a an 8x8x2 box is going to need to be at least 20" (plus overlap) long meaning you wont be able to print from your home unless you have a large format printer.
Please explain better what program you are using. If I create any vector artwork it will not remain that when you open it in photoshop. Photoshop is also not good for entering text and printing it (it pixilates). you would also have to change size of document and then rearrange the items placed. I would suggest labels and coming up with 3 different sizes for front and 3 sizes for the back that would work for all future box sizes. this way you still only have to place text and barcode etc. but not mess with size and layout. you would be able to buy sheets of labels and print from home (if that is what you are planning).
Please let me know how to proceed.
Thanks for posting some helpful things for me to think about! Here is what I was thinking / planning:
- The sleeve will be printed commercially (by the same vendor that is making the boxes for me)
- I will use a combination of Photoshop and Illustrator to edit the file you send me. Once the sizing is right (can be done in Illustrator to preserve the vector), I would probably use Photoshop to paste a picture (professional digital images) of the finished activity onto the sleeve (but could also be Illustrator, I guess). I would then send that image to the commercial printer. This way I can create as many different product packaging designs as I need but they will all have a consistent look and feel. If you don't think that will work, please let me know what other options you see or let me know what other software I might need
- Yes, sizing and layout would need to be changed if the box size changes. I don't expect that to happen too often but I want the option to re-use your design if it does. If I have the source files, I expect I could do this with Illustrator even if it takes some time
- The labels idea is also a good one (never thought of that) but then I would need to find another way to seal the box and I also don't want the finsihed product to look too homemade. The boxes are natural Kraft boxes and the labels would most likely be white so it may look like a homemade postage package.
- If you think you can create a nice design with labels, I'm happy to review that as well and am open to your ideas / suggestions.
Please don't hesitate to let me know if you still have comments / questions.
Hello!
Can you please give an example of an activity or craft? I have an Illustrated cover I'm working on but I'm not sure what to use as a placeholder. Also names of some of the crafts would be ideal, to help determine which font will look the best for all the different names.
As far as your process goes, I think your plan will work just fine. If I understand correctly, you want this to be a sleeve (open on two sides) that slips over your box to seal it. You need this in two sizes, which is no problem. I'll just supply a pair of Illustrator documents with editable text for you and links to fonts. What color is the exposed portion of the box?
Thanks
Jay
PS I noticed your contest is closing right away here; I'll try and get something into you today, even if it's with just a proof of the illustration.
