Logo Design Brief
g'day from South Australia
Behind ‘Spokespeople’ stands the vision to promote bicycling as an integral part of the everyday life in regional (South) Australia by providing services and products that support and inspire the use of a bicycle on a regular basis. This vision is carried by the personal exposures, experiences and developments on and around bicycles (and riding them), which all represent a significant contribution to a better quality of life.
‘Spokespeople’ aims to combine this vision with the current trend to encourage our society to live healthier and to prioritise quality over quantity, including the introduction of the physical activity component into our everyday life. In addition it follows the overall Australian trend to promote cycling not only as a way of exercising but also as a method of alternative transportation; in line with the slow but steady development and implementation of bicycle-friendly infrastructure and road safety programs.
With the above in the foreground, ‘Spokespeople’ will not become ‘just another’ bike store in the traditional way. The idea is to make bike riding more accessible to the bicycle minorities (e.g. women, commuters, elderly people, bicycle travellers, holiday riders) and to unveil the feel-good experience that riding a bicycle can provide to anyone.
Spokespeople will be based in the Clare Valley in South Australia - a picturesque wine region approx. 120km north of Adelaide. This region is enjoying an increasing popularity amongst weekend travellers/adventures from the city as well as domestic and international visitors.
Given that we are located in a wine region and that part of the 'Spokespeople' products & services can/could be wine-related (wine tasting tours by bicycle) we would enjoy if the logo can incorporate this aspect. Furthermore we consider ourselves 'substance over image' people - with an affinity to simplicity. A well-known brand/logo concept we like is for example 'Smartwool' - it's approachable, inclusive, simple and a little bit funny.
