Logo Design Brief
We are in need of a logo for Couloir, an outdoor lifestyle boutique planned for Boston, Massachusetts. The ideal design will be complementary to our merchandise and to the identities of our vendor brands, will be accessible to members of both genders, and will be cutting-edge but not so sharp that it becomes intimidating.
To aid you in your design, here are some pieces of potential inspiration:
-Examples of the type of merchandise you might find in the store: http://www.pinterest.com/mikegaskin/couloir/
-Our seasonal themes: "A store for people who are going places" (summer) and "Expedition Lifestyle" (winter)
-Websites of some of our partner brands:

www.eider.com
www.exped.com
www.nwalpine.com
www.jottnar.com
A "couloir," by the way, is a steep, normally snow-filled trench on a mountainside, often used by mountaineers as a path to both climb up and ski down. A Google image search for the term might help you get the image.
When it comes to color, bear in mind that the logo may need to be used in a monochromatic way at times, for example as a window decal. It should also be appropriate in both summer and winter settings. Beyond that, you have free reign on the color palette; the products on the Pinterest page above might provide you with inspiration.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing your design.
