Logo Design Brief

Thanks for looking at our post. We are a church experiencing a period of deep growth after many years of difficult decline. As a church, we don’t fit well with the stereotypical evangelical subculture. Our average member doesn’t buy Jesus junk, wishes Hollywood would stop making Bible movies, cringes when politicians speak about Jesus, would discourage you sending a check to a televangelist; we’re not program driven, we not looking to be a mega church, we not afraid of the word “religion,” and we wish Christian books stores would stop selling “inspirational” mugs, cards, and mints. Some of the things we value are: God’s glory and all-surpassing greatness, the supremacy of Christ in all things, the indescribable value of Jesus, the Gospel (the good news of salvation through faith in Jesus Christ), God’s grace (his undeserved goodness toward sinners), the Scriptures, a God-centered approach to ministry (for example God is the hero in the story of David and Goliath and not David), humility and graciousness toward those who are not Christians, and genuine faith in Christ. Designs should not include text turned into crosses, “wavy” crosses, or stick figure people. Designs do not have to include a cross. We’re looking for something simple, classic (won’t go out of style in a few years), clean, and professional (not cheap or cheesy). It would be great to have a logo that incorporates part of our name, either “Grace,” “Grace Baptist,” or “Grace Baptist Church."

We are looking for a design that somehow incorporates who we are as a church and what we believe into the logo. The most important things we want our logo to express are God-centeredness, cross-centeredness, and the great value we place on God's glory.
