Logo Design Brief

I want to re-design my logo for my home design business in Western Australia. I want a logo that is fairly simple, but at the same time modern and individual. I have designed a temporary logo, it can be seen on my website www.davidw.com.au.

I basically just want the logo to be the name "David Wilkes Design", definitely with NO gimmicks such as pictures of houses etc. Something that would suit a high end architectural business. I am happy with the colours being mainly black or grey. I like the long narrow logo for the website, but I am finding it difficult to use that logo on Facebook, Instagram pages etc which require a square image....Perhaps the logo could be an abbreviated version which can be put into a square to use for Facebook and a Favicon for my website.

If colours are to be introduced I would probably prefer a touch of green (green seems to be a good colour that people associate with environmentally friendly architecture which we promote).
