Web Design Brief

We need a Contemporary Industrial/Tech/Logistics Website design to match our logistic client's business. Our client consults and build logistics solutions that they manage but they are not a typical 3PL (3rd party logistics company) which is primarily engaged in moving boxes.

PSD file only for now, home and default templates.

COMPANY CHARACTER

DESIGN LOOK AND FEEL
• The design should also be modern and visually well organized — employing a combination of visual devices and info graphics. Keep it light and not too heavy but strong/ professional. And unique.
• The design should go beyond the typical industrial pick and pack 3PL representing [Logistics Company] as a High Tech/IT logistics company.
Some examples although these are not right for this client because they have much more content and present themselves more as a 3pl.

http://www.kn-portal.com/ (More right then wrong - Like this but simplified)
http://www.cevalogistics.com (Ugly)
http://www.chrobinson.com (More right then wrong but different focus)
http://www.jacobsonco.com/ Too 3PL trucking… We want a bit ore high level approach

The difference, the design should be a fusion in core concepts that culminate in a design which implies the following attributes. Tech (Big data / analytics / software), Consultancy (Solutions, SME, Leader), 3PL Industry vertical solutions.

NOTE: The visualization of “tech” is not “1” and “0”, but more “software and analytics” Perhaps more like www.comscore.com.

• They need to be seen as a solutions provider in Logistics and as in Subject matter experts

TONE
The tone needs to exude professionalism, expertise, though leadership along with technical and executional excellence.
Experienced
Knowledgeable
Confident
Determined
Straightforward

WEBSITE OBJECTIVES
• Focus C-Suite executives and logistics managers’ attention on [Logistics Company]s commanding knowledge and expertise, and unique approach to supply chain solutions producing more RFP wins
• Create an easy to scan design which decreases the reliance on text through featured text, summaries, and smaller “chunked” size bits of information.
• Convey [Logistics Company] as high-tech 3PL solutions developer and services provider with a ‘high-touch’ consultative approach.
• Showcase [Logistics Company]’s value propositions. (See Slider Content)
• Showcase [Logistics Company]’s expertise in logistical analytics.
• Gain recognition as an industry leader in evolutionary new space (supply chain 2.0)

WEBSITE STRATEGY
• Reduce reliance on text (at least within initial entry points for each section)
• Typography: Watch text line lengths and readability, bolder fonts. NO SERIFS
• Generally, create a click-through format so that users who want more details can find it, and those who don’t can get a snapshot without clicking through.
• Increase visual content through info graphics and some dynamic content, photography
• Better utilize the space on each page (e.g., add visual interest, photography and iconography where appropriate to break up copy blocks and maintain readable line lengths).

COLOR SCHEME
• Create a more engaging color scheme (the logo will remain the same under all circumstances).
• Red / grayscale may work…. Not too dark or heavy. Not too much red. Ex. lenovo.com
• Also try blues and greys. They seem to like that. Open to suggestions but don’t get to crazy. Red is in their logo but too much may be a problem.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Yes. And I will upload some.
If you pick photography please be sure to note Which stock house used and the image number!

CONTENT
The content will be presented in a more hierarchical format — with lead-ins, paragraph and section headers and navigational cues to expand lengthier content allowing the visitor to more easily scan the website. No case studies, No Social media, News while on the home page should not be over emphasized. They don't post a lot so it gets dated quickly ...

I will be uploading a wire frame and other elements.

NOTE: I uploaded my EXAMPLE mock up which is close but not close enough.

I am not a great designer. So I am looking for an alternative that exceed my design ability! These examples show the basic layout but I really want some varied alternatives.

The colors are inconsistent and type not quite right. The grey bar at top is not right and should probably go away.

Please pull the basic elements in the example together into a great design.

If you have questions please contact me.

i will upload some photography tomorrow that may be of use.

Thanks!
