Logo Design Brief

BOLT JEWELRY, LLC (BJ for short) is a jewelry business that specializes in LITERALLY turning trash into treasure. Yes, BJ is a Green business, focused on creative new ways to use old items. However, it is ART that is the heart of Bolt Jewelry- Art is the foundation, the essence, the magic, which forms the conscience/soul of this business.

MUSIC is a major element in our work, & possibly should be represented in the logo. The majority of our products are made from old gear/music equipment, such as guitar strings, picks, pieces of drumsticks, etc. We combine the used music equipment w/ Sterling Silver, Gold, Platinum, Precious & semi-precious gemstones, etc, thus transforming the art you hear, into the art you see & wear.

Although recycled components & items rescued from the garbage do make up a large amount of the materials used to make our jewelry, our product line does not look anything like trash & our products are not cheap. On the contrary, we offer extremely high-end products, both in appearance & in quality, along with designer label pieces, high-fashion items, & fine-jewelry. Our products range in price from $200.00 on the low-end, to over $250,000.00 (when we can afford the materials, that is) on the high-end.

The tricky part of designing this logo will be blending the high-class, elegant, expensive side of what we do, with the artistic, Rock & Roll edge, strength, & “badassness”. Please take a look at the pictures of our work for inspiration & guidance- nothing embodies the contradicting imagery described above like our jewelry!

Also, please remember that although I can't seem to simplify it verbally, the logo needs to be a simplification of all or some of these aspects of the business. Simple is essential for a proper logo.

Notes To Keep In Mind:

"Bolt" Jewelry was chosen for the imagery a LIGHTNING bolt brings to mind

Bolts of LIGHTNING are the manifestation of such pure energy & pure force that their power is of an intensity only found in nature; LIGHTNING bolts are absolutely unpredictable & uncontrollable; although we can attract LIGHTNING, channel & divert it, ALL of mankind's attempts to control &/or harness this force have all failed

LIGHTNING bolts are symbols for human artistic & intellectual inspiration; "struck w/ an epiphany"

just as we are unable to master & control LIGHTNING in its physical form, even the most powerful, most gifted, insightful, & genius artists will complain of an inability to draw on inspiration at will, an inability to aim their brains creatively to manifest ART; this is commonly called "Writer's Block", for example

PLEASE, get creative, follow your instincts, & screw lightning imagery if you're inspired w/ another vision for Bolt Jewelry

DO NOT USE OR "CREATE" A CLICHE, CHEESY, "CLASSIC" LIGHTNING bolt design. If that is all you can do, please stop now & go elsewhere!
