Wordpress Design Brief

Make Time 2 Play is a national UK campaign that promotes the value of play for children. The current website is live at http://www.maketime2play.co.uk. This website has been live for 4 years and now needs to be redesigned. The target audience is parents of young children up to the age of 12.

The current site was designed with a series of old adverts in mind. Here is an example of an old advert: http://youtu.be/fuZcUdpPESM

Criticisms of existing site:
The design represented the adverts too closely. The result was a website that mirrors the adverts rather than complements them.
The color scheme is too dark.
Text-heavy pages (e.g. http://www.maketime2play.co.uk/fun.php) are dull and not FUN!

New site
We have recently had a series of new video adverts produced:
advert 1: http://youtu.be/p6nf5wCuKtY
advert 2: http://youtu.be/YDCGQjxw2WY
advert 3: http://youtu.be/thNfLh9QX0M

The new site should be cleaner and brighter than the existing site, possibly with a white background using graphics, fonts and advert characters (see attached character graphics files) to add the element of fun and play.

The homepage should include:
1. Make Time to Play logo (attached)
2. Social Media links (visible on all pages of the site) – Facebook, Twitter, YouTube
3. Link to the MakeTime2Play app page of the site (visible on all pages)
4. Image/video placeholder that the user can scroll through, view full-size images and play videos.
5. Text area to hold approximately 100 words describing the purpose of the campaign
6. Site footer to contain the same information as on the existing site along with the British Toy & Hobby Association logo (attached)

Site structure:
One change to the site structure… the “Brought to you by” menu item will be removed from the top-level menu.

General:
Some pages on the existing site are quite text-heavy, we would like to break up text on these pages in some way. Graphical division of paragraphs, use of advert characters?

Please note that all attached graphics file are the property of the British Toy & Hobby Association and must only be used for the purpose of this project.
