Banner Ad Design Brief
We need a banner (that we will use on our own site) to explain to people that they can "be the reporter" in their local area. Streetcorner is an Australia community news network. We cover local news on a daily basis but also allow people and organisations to publish their own news direct to the site. We are trying to encourage local dialogue and to empower people to talk about the things that matter to them and get their issues on the news agenda.
We need a 'call to action' banner that explains to our users that they can post their own stories on the site.
Some suggested text (thinking this would be rolling)
*Streetcorner is YOUR voice in the community
*You can 'be the reporter' and write your own news
*To be heard, contribute your stories, click here - it's free
The banner doesn't have to be slick - we'd prefer a warm and friendly community feeling....but also something in keeping with the look and feel of our site wwww.streetcorner.com.au
Updates
Sorry, I forgot to tell you the Banner size - it's a Full Banner 468 x 60
I probably should have thought about this at the beginning but because we are going to use the banner on the home page of our own site - we don't need our logo in the banner ad.
If you did think it good to include the logo, it should probably not be dominant and not on the left hand side (which will be closest to where the permanent logo sits on the site itself).
Thank you very much. And thank you to everyone for their contributions so far, I really appreciate it.
In my brief I said I wanted the banner to be compatible with the look and feel of our site, but I don't necessarily want the same colour palette and fonts used as banner will be used on our own site and it needs to stand out (without looking silly) and convey a message.
"Yes, unfortunately designers are only able to submit a static preview
file whilst the contest is in its initial stage. Designers will be able to
submit the animated files once they are selected by the customer in the
handover stages. The typical process for flash animation contest on
designcrowd:
1. Multiple designers submit a preview image of their flash - if possible, they
should show multiple flames of the flash file to give the customer a feel for
the animation.
2. Once the contest reaches deciding stages, the customer selects the design
based on the preview files the designer submitted.
3. When a design is selected and the project reaches handover stage, the
customer is able to work with the a flash files (SWF) provided by the designer
and make revisions to the animation to meet their needs.
Let me know how you go with making a selection based on the static files."
Thank you so much to everyone who submitted a design for Streetcorner. I imagine it can be very disappointing not to be selected. I thought so many of the designs were excellent and I really appreciate the effort you all went to. Sorry that there can only be one design chosen. In the end, we went with something we thought we give the most "cut through" and catch the eye of the users of our site. Thanks again for your creativity and effort, I am very appreciative. Kind regards Angela
