Wordpress Design Brief
Business Name?
Ask Mark Ward (AskMarkWard.com) Technically, this is the name of the web site. This is a venture, rather than a business. It is part of building my brand as an expert.
- What do you do?
I am a life strategist/coach (http://NuDesign.com/). This site will be a one-stop advice site, providing answers to real life challenges. The tagline is "life challenges, real solutions." It is a three step process: ASK-RECEIVE-ACHIEVE. It should, however, be FUN/ENGAGING (yet useful), rather than have a business/consultant feel. Approachable!
- How many pages do you need designed and code?
The site will have 7 sections:
Home (this is where I envision the introductory text, the ability for the user to submit their questions and they will be visible for all to see)
About Mark (my bio information/fascinating facts)
Mark's Words (my blog-discussing general personal development topics and comments from readers)
Audio/Video (video tips and an audio player from blogtalkradio.com that enables visitors to listen to my radio show/podcast)
Donations (this is where visitors can donate after they have had their questions answered. I am not attached to a specific vendor as long as it is NOT PayPal-perhaps Google Pay. I need to have designated dollar increments that people can select-perhaps in $5 or $10 intervals)
Contact Mark (contact information and perhaps a SKYPE access button so that they can immediately contact me; it might be nice to have a chat room here for online chat, but I don't see this as vital)
- What is your industry?
Consulting/Professional Services
- Describe the target audience for your website design?
EVERYONE! I am going to becoming the "go-to guy" for when you are feeling stuck.
- What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design?
Insightful, Engaging, Wise (& FUN, FUN, FUN!). This is not a traditional business site. I have one of those. It should be fun & cutting-edge.
- How is your company different from your competitors?
It is not what I do that is different. It is my approach. I believe that success is a product of conditioning. Rather than simply focusing on what you are doing (which is, naturally, important), you must also focus on who you are. "YOU" are the common denominator in all that you do!
- What website design styles do you like?
I tend to be attracted to fashion/photography/artist web sites. I love this Tumblr Popcase design:
http://themeforest.net/item/popcase/full_screen_preview/1162441
I would love to have this style of menu navigation (these type of icons).
- What colors do you want to see in your website design?
I am completely open at this point (I have a couple of people working on a logo. It's not done yet. I now that it incorporates black & red, so, a black background might be nice). Naturally, this could influence it. I like "slick, sleek and cutting edge-something that will pop off the screen!
- What colors do you NOT want to see in your website design?
No restrictions as long as they are utilized in the appropriate balance/combination.
- What adjectives should best describe your website design?
Slick, sleek, cutting edge, cool, engaging, artistic
- What content must be included in the website design?
In addition to my logo and tagline : "life challenges, real solutions," I want to feature: ASK-RECEIVE-ACHIEVE somewhere.
- Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?
The primary challenge (and unlike most web sites) is that the main section is user-driven. The user submits the questions and I respond after it is posted (unlike a typical blog where I post and users comment). In an ideal world I would like for the user to be able to select from one of six categories while submitting their question.(Relationships, Health/Body, Career/Work Life, Spirituality, Money/Finance, Other). Then, when the user selects their category, their question would be displayed in the appropriate section. The challenge with that is that I need to have at least some q&a displayed on the home page so that visitors get an immediate sense of what I am doing. I want to have the ability to also response to submitted questions via video should I choose to do so. I want visitors to be able to share postings/my responses on Facebook, Twitter, etc.
Word Press has 3 templates that enable this q&a capability, but they are very unattractive in their design (like tech help forums-EW!) and they seem to require users to create their own profile page, etc. I don't see that as necessary. I don't know what can be modified, turned off, etc.

Project Deadline Extended
Reason: Since many seem to be pressed to participate due to competing schedules, I am adding a couple more days. Only a couple! Before submitting a design, please pay close attention to my brief. I must see how the home page intro and the q&a will be incorporated and displayed. To all who choose to contribute their gifts and talents to this challenge, I really appreciate it. Thanks!
Mark

Requirements
Must have
- There can be no compromise in the user-driven question and answer capability (where the questions are clearly displayed for all to see). This is the point of the entire site, so without it, there is no point!
All have my desired sections have already been detailed above.
Should not have
- I do not want this site to look like a typical coaching or corporate consulting site. Fun, engaging, cutting edge & forward thinking!
