Logo Design Brief
Art of Motors offers customers signed and limited numbered editions of art work and accessories. The artist is cardesigner Jesper Hermann and the art work will therefore in most cases have some relation to the automobile world. When a customer purchases a product we focus on the entire experience. Ordering the product, unpacking the product, using the product all steps have to be something extra to give the customer an experience you don’t get anywhere else. It is therefore important that the logo contributes to this unique, stylish, modern, and contemporary universe of the products. At first the products will consist of prints/posters and specially designed T-shirts and polo shirts. Over time the shop will offer a wider range of collectibles.
The visual identity of the shop is important in our attempt to create an atmosphere, which is stylish and desirable for a customer segment that goes beyond car enthusiasts. It is therefore not essential that the logo contains automotive references although, if nicely integrated in a strong visual context, this could still be an option.
The team behind Art of Motors are inspired by the Paul Smith stripes, which, with other colour codes, could be a stylish/elegant way of adding colours to the logo. Also the stripes being part of the brand identity will add possibilities when designing Polos and T-shirts. This is just for inspiration and not a must have.
The logo will be placed on all communication to customers, be placed strategically on posters, polos, T-shirts and other products produced in the future. The logo should be able to stand alone with no text. The logo itself doesn’t have to contain the company name. A of M could be another approach to the logo.
For the right designer, more work will be required accordingly when T-shirt, embroideries etc. has to be designed.
Updates
Deardesigners,
Thank youfor your submissions so far. It is really quite a journey seeing your thoughtson our company’s visual identityJ
We havesome updates to the brief:
1.Thelogo itself has to be so characteristic and unique that it, over time, will beable to stand alone
2.Wehave decided not to have an actual car (something more abstract relating tocars and which works graphically could still be an option) as part of the logo, since we want to reach out not only to car lovers. So don't spend too much timeon the car approach:-)
3.Thinknot so much automotive and more upmarket, modern, simple, characteristic andstylish. We sell exclusive numbered artwork, accessories and clothing, this iswhat we want to communicate.
4.Thestory behind the logo is important to us and can/will be used as part of ourbranding. Therefore, please write your thoughts of why the logo looks as itdoes and perhaps your inspiration. This might help us look beyond our own conceptionof what works and what doesn’t.
We areeagerly waiting for the next round of creating a fantastic logo for Art ofMotorsJ
Thank youvery much.
Regards
JesperHermann

Dear designers,

We just ha a "nametag" idea. It is up to you if you want to pursue this idea or not, it is meant as a suggestion. All over products on Art of Motors will be numberedand this would be an interesting way to combine this with the logo. Imagine ourlogo on a polo shirt or an art-work. Part of the logo then shows what number ofthe series it is, the name of the designer, the name of our company etc. Don'tknow if it'll work but perhaps the logo you are already working on could work as part of this idea? The pdf-file I've uploaded, explains what we are talking about...and interpretation of this idea is of course also appreciated.
