Logo Design Brief

I need a logo for my new business that offers a Counselling and support service. The logo name (Bethlehem & the Bay Counselling) represents both the function (Counselling) and locality of the business (Bethlehem (The Town) & the Bay (referring to the area known as the “The Bay of Plenty” in New Zealand)). I'm looking for a logo that captures ideas of caring, helping someone to make good choices, providing guidance and support in moments of difficulty, struggle or crisis. I would like my Logo designer to work with crisp strong colours, to function with predominantly white backgrounds. Something a little funky/modern, but creating a serious or professional image would be really good. The acronym BBC can also be played with if it doesn't infringe other well-known brands.
For your further information, The Bay of plenty in NZ is known for its beautiful beaches, the predominant land mark “Mt Maunganui,” growing of Kiwi Fruit and Avocado. All of these attributes might be something a designer could use to link the business with the area.
A logo with an abstract image representing counselling or a logo reflecting the geographical area, or one that combines both, would be what I am thinking about.

The logo should be suitable for website, business card, letter head and billboard use.
