Logo Design Brief

Swan City Derby (Perth W.A based roller derby league) need a logo we can use on our merchandise (tshirts/hoodies/stickers) as well as on our online media and our website. Pics to help desingers get a sense of what roller derby and SCD are about are attached to help.

The logo must be 100% unique with 4- 5 colours max being used. We would like to see designs that use the colours red, black and silver and include a female, male and a black swan in the logo. The additon to these colours, a small amount of the colour baby pink (to represent our off skate officals) and zebra print (to represent our on skate officials) would also be great.

Background about us: Swan City Derby are the first co ed roller derby league in W.A which is famous for its black swans who live on the perth river. We have a 'no hate just skate' ethos and would like to see a sense of unity and inclusiveness reflected in the logo. Being a co ed roller derby league means we allow both males and females to skate equally in games and the males and females use hits/hip/shoulders to make each other fall down. We wear quad roller skates that stop at the ankle, full protective gear and need to see full safety gear featured in our logo, see attached pics (minus the mouth guards; no need for them unless the teeth are really showing and they are hitting in each in a pose used in the logo). Two positions are played in roller derby, jammer (star on helmet) and pivot (stripe on helmet). NO BRUISES OR BANDAIDS ON THE SKATERS OR SWAN please.

Ideals logos for Swan City Derby are;
logos with a male and female skater standing back to back (see attached photo) with a large swan who has spread wings behind them, the male and female could be cartoon/pin up style or even just a dark shadow that clearly shows off the gender- showing off the two genders is very important ans they must be in roller derby safety equipment.
Or logos showing the male and female are actually skating against and hitting each other with their hips or shoulders would be ideal.
We are open to seeing feathered swan wings on the skaters in the logo or even just the female if possible but it must be black wings that can be recognised as swan wings.
We are also open to family shield type design that also encompasses all of the attributes about SCD already outlined. In roller derby we were helmet covers to show which position we are playing, they are; jammer (star) and pivot (stripe), see attached cherry city logo to understand what we mean- these must be a red background with a black star or stripe on them.

Clothing/design of the logos male and female:
Any male featured in the logo needs to wear a red shirt with mid bicep length sleeves (with S.C.D in font on the front accross the chest) and with black knee length shorts that end above the knee pads and a black helmet with the clasp done up. He needs to have a red 'pivot' stripe on his helmet (thick stripe down the centre, see attached pics for examples of placement of stripe/star)
Any female featured in the logo needs to wear a black shirt or singlet with thick straps (with S.C.D in font on the front across the chest), with red short shorts (no butt cheeks or cleavage to be showing but alot of thigh is acceptable as are fishnet stockings) The female should to be holding her red helmet, or standing on it with one foot (as per attached pic of actual photo of two SCD skaters in full gear), she meeds to have a large black star on the side of the helmet, like a 'jammer'. The female should have long hair that is black with red stripes in it or silver stripes in it that goes past her shoulders, perhaps with a silver head band in it.

Swan and W.A location representation:
The swan should only be black, no swans wearing roller derby safety gear please. The swan should have its wings extended and look fierce and powerful, not weak and swimming. We'd prefer not to have the perth city skyline in the logo nor the swan river- its already used in another WA based leagues logo.
