Icon Design Brief
About Brogress
Brogress is a gamified self-improvement app. Users level up across six "life stats" (Heart, Iron, Edge, Flow, Vault, Brain) by completing daily missions, talking to an AI coach, taking psychological assessments, and unlocking achievements. Think RPG mechanics applied to real-life growth — streaks, levels, character art, achievement portraits. The name is a portmanteau of bro + progress.
Audience
Primarily men in their 20s–40s who want to take their habits, mindset, and discipline seriously without it feeling clinical. Confident, slightly playful, motivational — not bro-y in the frat sense, more in the quiet-grind, get-stronger-every-day sense.
What I need
A modern iPhone app icon (1024×1024 PNG, square, no transparency, no rounded corners — iOS applies the squircle mask). It should:
- Read instantly at small sizes (test at 60×60 px and 120×120 px)
- Feel premium and motivational — closer to Strava / Headspace / Apollo than to a flashy game
- Use the brand's primary color: gold / warm amber (around #F5A623 to #FFC047), ideally with a darker counterpoint
- Work as both a literal mark and a memorable shape — avoid relying on text/letters
What to lean into
- Upward motion / ascent / progression
- Strength, growth, transformation
- A simple iconic mark (think a single bold symbol, not a busy illustration)
What to avoid
- Generic dumbbells, biceps, gym equipment (too narrow — Brogress is not a fitness app)
- Cliche "B" letterforms unless done in a genuinely fresh way
- Crowded, photo-realistic, or skeuomorphic designs
- AI/robot/brain motifs (we're not pitching AI, we're pitching personal growth)
Deliverables
- Master 1024×1024 PNG (sRGB)
- Editable source file (Figma, Sketch, or Adobe Illustrator)
- 2–3 color variants if relevant (light/dark/mono)

Updates
Hi!
Based on the designs I received so far, I would like to give an update:
I would like the design not to be too complex in terms of colors used and granularity of strokes.
It should rather be minimalistic, for the background I would prefer #FDDA03.
Also the design should not be as simple as just arrows or mountains, they should reflect what Brogress stands for or the B somehow, otherwise it's too generic.
