Logo Design Brief

We need a logo for a new company based in the UK called Birchwood Price Tools. We will be the wholesale importer & distributor of branded tools and hardware products from our own portfolio of product brands. Operating initially in the UK but we will also distribute to the EU and globally. We source and import the products and will sell to the retailers of those products ranging from large established companies like Screwfix and Toolstation, all the way to small independent family run retailers.

We would like a logo that incorporates the full name of Birchwood Price Tools but facilitates the shortening of this to BPT. There have been previous instances of the company name Birchwood Price Tools (see below) and we want a new logo that is different to the previous but also conveys a sense of heritage linking to the product brands we sell that have been trusted brands in the market place for many years. The logo will need to work on all digital assets (most importantly to work on a transactional website), a variant that works on lighter and a variant that works on darker backgrounds. Colourways - avoid any colours that associate the logo with Toolstream.

For further background: We don’t have a full brand book yet but wording is likely to include the following - Quality Tools, Unbeatable Prices, Great Service. The product brands we sell will include Silverline Tools, Fixman, King Dick Tools, Dickie Dyer and Tough Grit. The brands we distribute are known for being great value products offering a very competitive price point whilst also delivering a robust level of quality. The end users of the product brands are Trades people and DIYers but they will be more familiar with the product brands than BPT.
The Birchwood Price Tools name has been used before but we have acquired the IP for this brand and all the product brands following the collapse of the previous owner - Toolstream Ltd. If you google “Birchwood Price Tools” you will likely get an AI result for the previous incarnation of the brand, we would like some of that heritage but the product brands will be different this time.
