Boat Hull Design design for Outremer 45 Catamaran - Moana Nui
- Guaranteed
Graphic Design Brief
The boat's name is Moana Nui
Theme: Polynesian, Hawaiian inspired. I'm also open to Japanese influenced as well.
I want the artwork to be simple, fun, playful.
Style inspiration: Disney movie Moana, but not just copying the disney art.
Practical Constraints: This will be a vinyl decal, and it will need to be printed by a print shop.
"Moana nui" in Hawaiian means "great ocean" or "vast ocean."
It evokes the idea of the expansive Pacific Ocean — a central concept in Hawaiian culture, often symbolizing connection, exploration, and life itself.
The moana (ocean) is alive, sacred, and deeply respected.
It's considered a pathway, not a barrier — connecting islands and people.
It provides food, spiritual power (mana), and identity.
Navigators read the stars, winds, and waves — a tradition called wayfinding.
Perhaps incorporating elements like wind, barrelling waves, hibiscus, mantas, shark, dolphin, but we would want to keep it simple.
On the port and starboard sides of the boat, this artwork will replace the "Lady Anne" artwork currently on the boat, which measures 89 x 28 inches. There is quite a bit of room to go larger if desired.
On the transom step, I will also need.
The boat name "Moana Nui" will replace "Lady Anne," currently measuring 28 x 9. I think 9'' is the max height, but it could go wider if needed.
The hailing Port "Newport, RI" will replace "Lewes, Delaware" measuring.
34 x 3 inches. The new hailing port has a lot fewer characters, but I think 3'' is likely the max height.
I've added a few images I generated with ChatGPT. I'm not an artist :-)
