T-shirt Design Brief
We are looking to create a t-shirt design for Code BEAM Europe that highlights the unity and power of programming. The concept centers around three characters (preferably robots), designed to be gender-neutral, representing the three languages: Erlang, Elixir, and Gleam.
Design concept:
Each character should symbolize one language:
Erlang: shades of red
Elixir: shades of violet (check ElixirConf EU website)
Gleam: shades of pink
The characters should not be identical copies, but each can have a small attribute or prop that connects them to their language:
Erlang → a book (stability, history, foundation)
Elixir → a flask/vial (alchemy, creativity, transformation)
Gleam → a cape (newest language, playful “superpower” energy)
They should visually interact or connect in a way that represents collaboration, shared purpose, and the power of programming.
This could also subtly reference a conference, the BEAM virtual machine, or another type of “superpower.”
The overall composition should be harmonious, showing the languages working together while still maintaining their individual identity.
Logo option:
One of the possible approaches is to integrate the Code BEAM Europe logo (attached) into the design, with the characters interacting with it or even “creating” it together.
Flexibility:
We are open to alternative interpretations instead of robots – for example, animals – as long as the design remains gender-neutral, diverse, and inclusive.
Tone and style:
Fun, approachable, and visually striking
Clean and recognizable even on a t-shirt
Bright, distinct color palette for each language, but all elements should feel cohesive together.
