Logo Design Brief
My idea is to have a high quality artisan sourdough small batch bakery specialising in Tartine style, high hydration breads, baguettes, focaccia and some offerings of pastry items using laminated dough such as croissants, danish and cinnamon rolls.
I plan to offer to the local area. The design for the business name and logo came from my work at the hospital, offering bread to staff in a staff locker. The business name also has its origin in the 1800 French panettier which translates to Breadlocker. I want the bread to speak for itself through its quality and I want to produce it with generosity, humility, love and great care. All breads are handmade with the highest quality ingredients including sustainably sourced and organic ingredients and long fermented dough to produce great flavour and open crumb.
The name "Breadlocker" is derived from the origin story of delivering bread to hospital staff lockers, combined with the historic French “panetière” (an ornate 1800s bread safe). The business is built on generosity, humility, care, and craftsmanship—values that should subtly echo through the brand aesthetic.
Logo Style:
Hand-drawn or distressed/etched style preferred.
Should include or be inspired by the antique “panetière” (visual references provided)
Typography should feel vintage but strong—ideally serif-based with subtle flair.
Optionally integrate French decorative elements (fleur-de-lis, scrollwork, floral motifs)
Monochrome or minimal earthy tones preferred.
Must work well in both signage and packaging applications (e.g., stamps, stickers, bags)
Deliverables
Primary Logo (with “Breadlocker” with and/or without “Handmade Sourdough”)
Simplified/secondary logo (symbol or text-only)
Vector files (AI, EPS)
Transparent PNG and high-res JPEG
Black & white and full colour versions
Optional mockups: signage, bread packaging, or market stall use.
Reference Images
I’ve included various concepts and historical panetière photos to illustrate the desired rustic-yet-refined aesthetic and shape influence.
Examples show both clean and distressed finishes—open to either depending on cohesion with the brand’s humble artisan voice.
Tone and Feel
The logo should evoke:
Craftsmanship: every loaf is made with attention and care
History: rooted in both personal story and traditional baking culture
Warmth and Trust: a comforting brand people feel good buying from
