Logo Design Brief

I'm looking for a design I can use on 18" x 24" yard signs for my campaign. The attachment is something I've been considering but not sold on.
I would like see the "X" in the voter box stylized. Either with paintbrush, made into a check mark through an X, etc.

I'm also open to going a different direction if I see something I like more.

I'll need a small amount or room at the bottom to the required campaign disclaimer.
