Logo Design Brief
Little Jellies Swimwear is an emerging children’s swimwear brand. Our goal is to create fun, colourful and practical swimwear that reflects the vibrant and sunny lifestyle of Australia.
The creator of the brand, a former swimming teacher, has long identified a gap in the market of children’s swimwear—being children’s swimwear that is bright and colourful. Most children’s swimwear brands focus on what one would describe as gender norm colours. Girls get pastel pink and purple and boys get blue and green. We see two main problems with this. First, if we look at the “boy colours”. Blue and green are often the colours of the tiles in the pool. This has the consequence of those bathers being difficult to see when underwater. If disaster were to strike and a child to fall into the water or to go under for some reason, they need to be seen and be seen quickly. This is why our brand is focused on neon colours and neon print. Pale colours such as pastel pink and purple also suffer the same problem as the blue and green. They are incredibly hard to see and if you’re in a panic looking for a child in the water—every second counts on being able to locate them.
This brings us to the problem that we have identified with the present children’s swimwear market—it is predominately pastel. Whilst aesthetically pleasing to put little girls in pastel pink bathers, it is not the safest colour she could be wearing around water. It is widely accepted that neon colours are the easier colours to see under water—both still and disturbed water in pools, lakes, rivers and the ocean.
Our goal is to create fun, playful and aesthetically pleasing bathers that utilise colours that will hopefully make little ones safer whilst around water.
Our creator is also an aunty to two water loving nephews and is sick of just having green and blue as options for their bathers. Kids love colour so why not get creative!
When someone thinks of Little Jellies, we want them to think:
• Bright
• Neon
• Fun
• Beach
• Pool
• Sandcastles
• Colourful pool and beach toys
• Cute sea animals
• Playful
We want it to be playful but not childish. Our purchaser is different to the ultimate consumer. 99% of the time, parents (or other adults) are choosing the bathers that their children will wear. We need to appeal to their sense of safety but also cut through the aesthetically pleasing “beige” trend that has been around for some time.
Logo
The logo will be “Little Jellies” and I would like it to be in a text that is happy, bright and fun.
I would also like to ultimately have 2 cartoon baby sea creatures created to be used on hats and potentially other items. I want them to reflect my two nephews and if I get anymore, those characters can be incorporated down the track. One of my nephews wears navy blue rectangle glasses and the other has a tuft of thick white blonde hair. Can I please get a drawing of each of the four following animals with those characteristics (so it will be 8 images all together):
• Jellyfish
• Octopus
• Crab
• Turtle
