Logo Design Brief

Challenge: Design a logo for our new charity.

About the charity:
Clear Solutions focuses on the half-million young children who die every year from diarrhoea - mostly as a result of dehydration in very low-income countries. We do so by partnering with health workers in the community to distribute free Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS, powdered sugar & electrolytes) with Zinc tablets: a proven simple treatment that parents can give to children at home. ORS provides much more effective hydration than water alone, potentially preventing >90% of deaths.

Our geographic focus is sub-Saharan Africa.

Viewers of the logo may not be english-speakers: it should convey _some_ meaning to non-english-speakers.

Objective:
Design a logo to appear on our website, fundraising/marketing materials, and in correspondence with community healthcare groups, political and health ministry actors, etc. It _may_ appear on medicinal product packaging.
Preferred format: SVG. Or high-resolution PNG (>2000px in each dimension).

Style preferences:
Simple, minimalist, clean. Simple colour palette, eg. 1-3 colours. Should work on white and dark backgrounds.

Charity name inclusion: Not as the core of the logo itself, but the name can be positioned alongside in complementary colour and font.

It is not required that the organisation’s purpose is understood from the logo alone, but a graphic that somehow reinforces what the charity does is preferred. We want a combination of logo, org name and 1-line slogan to leave a clear understanding, so the logo has its part to play.

Colours: please see the attached PDF with a set of palettes that we like. We’d love to see logos using the deep reds/orange/coral or orange/yellow as a main colour, but are open minded toward other suggestions from the palettes or beyond.

Here are examples of other logos liked/disliked.

IMPORTANT - please don't reuse design elements from these directly: we list them to give an idea of general style only.
LIKE: maternalhealthinitiative.org - a simple design that’s comfortable to look at and describes the organisation’s core mission well.
LIKE: habitatforhumanity.org.uk - evocative of the organisation’s purpose.
LIKE: sands.org.uk - Clever combination of baby in-utero and eye+tear, reinforces the org’s purpose.
LIKE: World ORS Day 2021 (https://depositphotos.com/vector/vector-illustration-world-ors-day-poster-banner-design-387370754.html): Don’t want to be _too_ similar to this, but like the clear meaningful graphic. Not too cartoony.
LIKE: British Heart Foundation, visually simple and clear, more distinctive than “just” a heart shape, reinforces the org purpose.
DISLIKE: gosh.org - less keen on the childish drawing style
DISLIKE: nspcc.org.uk - Brand colour and font alone without a graphic is too sparse, missing opportunity to indicate what the charity does.
DISLIKE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche#/media/File:Porsche_logo.svg - old fashioned imagery (shield, lion), over-complex

Please provide rectangular and square versions with for each of light and dark backgrounds.

Thank you!
