Logo Design Brief

Some of the paragraphs below are repeated or redundant but this is done on purpose to give the designer multiple ways to think about the project and designs.

We need a cool, clever, innovative, and energetic logo for a lifestyle brand named Beyond Adventure.
Here are multiple ways to think about what our brand does and what it represents:

Lifestyle Brand: Embodies the idea and philosophy that life is not only an adventure, it’s also an opportunity to “leave our mark” on the world around us (aka: leave a legacy).
Beyond Adventure values living sustainable lifestyles intrapersonally; interpersonally; and externally in the way we chose to live in the world such as our homes, cars, clothes, and work.
In other words, it means living by the philosophy and value of living integrated, balanced, and sustainable lifestyles.

Our community of followers and lifestyle enthusiasts believe in embracing new adventures, facing fear and taking risks, living with no regrets, and living a life of duty and purpose.

Our values come from research and the philosophy underpinning adventure programming in the fields of Outdoor Leadership, Adventure Education, and Experiential learning.
We believe that a life beyond adventure is to be fully engaged in the experience of authentic and unapologetic living - not observed from the “sidelines” watching as the years pass you by…

We believe that in order to fully experience our best life, we must live a sustainable, integrated, and balanced lifestyle.
To go beyond adventure we must try new things, take new risks, be true to self, be lifelong learners, and we must think about our duty to serve others and service to our communities to create a sustainable world.

That is the purpose and mission of Beyond Adventure: To Create a Sustainable World.

It means that we show up in this world as being authentic and true to who we are and who we want to be, we are unapologetically ourselves and we believe in fully living. Burnout, stress, mental illness, unhappiness and lack of fulfillment, financial difficulties, a lack of fun and enjoyment or hobbies, a lack of self care, substandard living, and a lack of passion and purpose in life are all signs of a lack of sustainability.

For those who follow our company and believe in the philosophy of Beyond Adventure, their belief and feeling that life is an adventure is only one part of their value system - they feel an internal calling and drive to go beyond adventure and live a life of duty so that they can leave behind a legacy that is bigger than themselves. Our followers feel a sense of duty to leave behind a trace that sustainably impacts the world in positive or unique ways.
Our followers are action takers, doers, achievers, risk takers, and adventurous - or they are committed to developing theses virtues to create sustainable lifestyles. becoming action takers and doers.
We help our followers go from unconscious incompetence to unconscious competence in sustainable lifestyles and sustainable living with our various products and subsidiaries.
In order to promote our philosophy and this lifestyle as well as gain new clients for our subsidiary companies, Beyond Adventure sells merchandise such as clothing, small branded gear/gadgets, stickers/posters, various other merchandise, and monthly subscription based brand boxes that includes different merchandise and products and cool gadgets that the customer receives each month. All of our products promote our brand and lifestyle and ultimately promotes our subsidiary companies.
Our subsidiary companies include but are not limited to businesses that specialize in sustainable living, sustainable housing, sustainable landscaping, sustainable living supplies and products, integrated life/health/wellness & leadership consulting, and off-grid sustainable lifestyles and living, and adventure programming for experiential learning in sustainable living.

Our motto is “Leave Your Trace,” which is a clever play on the backcountry wilderness use rules and principles of “Leave No Trace.”
I recommend taking a quick glance at the Leave No Trace principles to get an understanding of why our motto is instead “Leave Your Trace.”

Our company represents life as being an adventure and the Journey is the Destination. We represent a free lifestyle, facing fears and taking risks for growth and success, a lifestyle of sustainable living (both internally and externally as our soon to start sister companies build off-grid homes and other off-grid construction). And instead of the policy and practice used by all wilderness areas called "Leave No Trace" our motto/tagline is "Leave a Trace" or "Leave Your Trace" which implies that one's "Life Adventure" is to leave a legacy/mark from how they live their life. Their life's mission is to leave their mark, whatever that may mean to the person.

Be creative and cool with the designs and remember that our designs will be sold on apparel and other merchandise for brand awareness and marketing for our subsidiaries.

Colors: I especially like the colors Red, Black, Silver, and Green - in that order.
Our brand should feel like an “elite” community of like-minded people.

Though we do sell products, Beyond Adventure primarily promotes a lifestyle and a set of beliefs and values by using branded merchandise that will ultimately market our subsidiary company products and services as well. We are not an outdoor gear outfitter

There will be several other design jobs we need completed after this logo, so the winner may have additional income opportunities if interested. We will also be sure to leave a great review for the best designs/designer we choose.

Our preference is for the design to be compact or in a symbol of sorts so that it is easier to brand and looks good.

Also, please remember, we are not a backpacking company or an outdoor gear company, so it is preferable to not have a person hiking in the logo. This implies to a potential customer or client that we are an outdoor adventure company which we are not. We welcome other ideas though. In fact, in place of a hiker, it would be preferred to have a Sasquatch/Bigfoot figure instead - both for the irony and for our other companies.

Hi designers, check out our updated design brief and preferences. We will be uploading a few sample pictures as well. One of which was designed by us but we would like something more professionally designed perhaps using our stuff as an optional guide.

Must have
  • Must be a design that looks cool and stylish, unique and innovative for use on different types of apparel; must be appealing to both male and female followers; and will look good on variously other lifestyle products and gadgets.
Nice to have
  • Because of our other companies which feature Bigfoot/Sasquatch as the mascots, it would be cool to have a Sasquatch figure or outline in the logo in addition to a compact, symbol style design that tells the new follower what our company is about. I prefer the following colors: Red, Black, Silver, Green
Should not have
  • Our company is not an outdoor outfitter, please no hikers or other objects that imply we sell outdoor gear at Beyond Adventure. The logo should be a memorable symbol or design that includes more than just our name as well. Some sample symbols we like are nautical compasses, Bigfoot/Sasquatch, Mountains, trees, circular symbols, etc.
