Hello everybody, first of all thanks for the great submissions, and the overwhelming variety to choose from !
We have a first round internal poll ranking (with the last submissions since a few hours ago not taken into account yet), and I will try to give some feedback on the current top 20 or so in the course of the day !
This will need individual thoughts and comments, distilled out from the conversation with my colleagues, and I do have other appointments today, so please be patient.... Thanks !!

As a general comment: We like "simple" designs, but the best in our opinion are those ones which actually resemble something or which reminds us in what we do (the technology).
This revolves around the following things: Wafers (round or warped), laser light, light on edge, etc.

Also we wanted to note, that the "example image" we provided was merely meant to show the type of logo we are looking for (i.e. a "LOGO" plus the company name), but we actually did not want to suggest to create something which "looks similar". There were quite a few designs leaning heavily on that example image (i.e. looking like a "modification" of it), which was unintended.

I started to give comments on designs starting with the oldest, but I need to pause here....

we just closed our third internal poll iteration, and it looks like we have our top 10 designs !
Thanks to everyone for participation, and the large amount of contributions, some even with repeated efforts to improve on the designs, to great effect ! I will write personal messages in the course of the next few hours to those designs/designers.

At this point I also want to give some feedback to the DesignCrowd WEB PAGE:
Please Please PLEASE do something about the many BUGS, INCONSISTENCIES and INCONVENIENCIES which I came across in trying to manage this design contest and the polls!
It is a PAIN to look through the list of added designs in a poll (fixed sorting a nightmare), I could only see individual poll voting results for the FIRST poll we did (and there only partially, not for all designs), all other polls now just only show a STAR SUMMARY ranking, and the individual Feedback and Ratings when clicking on "View Details" are EMPTY (a BUG), and the summary star ranking sometimes somehow DISAGREES with the same design ranking on a different page.
Poll management is also extremely difficult, adding/removing designs is a challenge as it has no option for sorting according to different rules, and the given fixed sort order is... questionable at best.
In other words: Management is a nightmare here.
