Web Design Brief

I need a complete re-design for an existing association of teachers website. I will create it in wordpress in the next months.

It should be modern, but more an information plattform for teachers in our region (Switzerland, south -> near the alps).
Following content are contained:
- blog
- calendar
- text only
- document only (a list of documents to download -> pdf)
- social media
- login area

What I need is :
- a well color concept
- an inspiration how to use images (or without images)
- an inspiration where to place logo (attached file) / text / navigation
