Logo Design Brief

I need a dynamic yet not busy logo for my new detective and guard agency. I need a strong and easily identifiable logo that when seen is automatically associated with my services. This business is unique to Hawaii and should represent that. I am not sure if a picture logo with text is better than a picture logo with text outside of the picture or text which creates a picture. I need to have a two-sided business card. I would put the logo next to my company's Detective and Guard numbered badges.

I am thinking something representative of Hawaii like Diamond Head or tribal shark's teeth making a fingerprint. Along with something that shouts detective and guard services... maybe an eye with a shark's teeth finger print for the iris. The more I think, the busier my logo gets. I want it simple and easily readable in all marketing sizes.

Maybe just the company initials: HD&G

I have too many thoughts and not enough creativity to put them on paper.
