Flyer Design Brief
Established in 1949, the Blind Community Center of San Diego's mission is to enrich the lives of blind and visually impaired adults by preparing them for a normal, active life in a society that is principally sighted by encouraging independence.
Located in Balboa Park in San Diego, California, we are a nonprofit that gives blind and visually impaired people in our community an opportunity to socialize and interact. We help members build skills, confidence, and self-esteem through our various social, recreational, and educational activities. We were founded partially by Lions Club members and receive ongoing funding from them.
We need an 8 1/2 by 11 inch color ad in jpg format. We would like it to be editable. This will be the foundation of our rebranding. The ad will be in a meeting program of the California Lions (californialions.org) with the goal of highlighting some of our programs in order to solicit donations from individual Lions Clubs, preferably ongoing ones.
We would like the ad to be generic enough that we can use the ad for other events and as a flyer in the future. We want the ad/flyer to be classic but eye popping with color. We want the design to reflect a professional and lively organization that loves to serve our members. We don’t entirely love our logo, but it’s what we have for now. Our next task will be a new logo design.
We would like to highlight some of our programs for our members include bingo, blind waterskiing and surfing, cooking and ceramic classes, foreign language classes, self defense classes, yoga, and craft classes. Many of the crafts our members make are sold during fundraisers, and they include blankets, scarves, beaded animals, and more. See a sampling of pictures. We provide transportation to and from our Center, free lunch while at the Center, and food to take home. Many of these activities continue during the pandemic via online platforms. We are doing monthly home deliveries of food to our members.
We need donations to keep our programs going, and we have building repairs & maintenance that we need donations in order to complete. See attached document regarding donations. Please reach out if you have questions. Thank you.
