Hi,
Sounds like a nice project, but, to me your brief is quite technical about the process etc, but doesn't tell us much about the models you produce. Do you produce Hornby size railways or bigger? Is it traditional trains and buildings etc?
A bit more detail about the type of models, where you are in the market, traditional or modern.
Look forward to more info.

G''day Tony
Thank you for your feedback. In part, it is difficult to answer your question because the points you raise tend to limit things, whereas our actual operations are - or will be - more diverse.
DESIGN & MANUFACTURE
The models that we will produce under the Modrail brand will -initially- be N-Scale (1/160) Australian - specifically from the state of New South Wales. Modern and past eras.
However one of those involved in this project already is also involved in designing for many other scales (eg HO - 1/87 ... "Hornby - size" and also in O-scale); some of the models are Australian - from various States; some are British and .... So we will also produce models in different scales; for different nationalities. AND, if someone asks us to do a model, then it will be whatever they want, in whatever scale.
So perhaps a better(?) answer is that, over a period of time, we will act as a manufacturer that also offers OEM services?
A lot of the R&D we have done has been aimed at being able to produce lower-volume models (locomotives, wagons, passenger cars; buildings; ...) at prices as competitive as possible with high volume / mass-produced factory models.
SALES
We are / will be importing specific products from a number of suppliers for sale in the Australian market. These will include electronics and control equipment; scenery items; ancillary products (such as wagon loads); and .... well, whatever we think a niche player can sell - we aren''t a retail shop and we aren''t going to offer that type or level of sales service.
We will also be selling products sourced from local manufacturers (eg www.badgerbits.com.au) and hope to provide a better sales service than they are already getting / able to provide themselves (our website will be fairly sophisticated in approach and capability - not a cheap, low functionality affair)
If you noticed the reference to a website for modrail.com (as compared to modrail.com.AU), it is also our intention to offer certain products to the international market - specifically North America. For example, part of the first model we release will have distinct internationally appeal, and will be sold separately for that specific purpose.
Please do ask more questions! :)

Hi,
Just wondering if you are going to close this project or are you looking for more designs?
G'day Tony
As far as I was aware, the deadline for submissions was now passed. we are currently reviewing the designs on offer and, after conducting an updated poll, expect to make a final decision by early next week.
