Logo Design Brief

We need a logo design for a new Barbershop in the metro east Illinois area (near St. Louis). The name of the shop is VIP Cross Cuts. The shop is family oriented and will "cross" generational, ethnic, and gender lines...in other words. We serve everyone. Clippers, straight razor, scissors.....you will be treated like a VIP.

We are open to a variety of design colors, but not keen on the traditional red/white/blue barber pole as part of the logo. We like silver, or gold (possibly). Brown or black could also work. Please don't feel you have to limit your work to these colors...just a starting place.

Personally I LOVE logos that can make clever use of negative space.
The logo should definitely convey "barber"

It may incorporate taper/fade, hair clippings, scissors, clippers, razor, comb etc

(We've attached screenshots of closed projects that we like....not looking for a replica, but will hopefully give design an idea of our tastes)
