We are a global fund management company based in London and Sydney. We periodically produce written content for our clients on financial markets and the economcy. We would like to make these articles more readable and enjoyable by including editorial cartoons related to the subject that is being discussed. A good example of the styleof cartoons we are referring to can be found by looking at the style of cartoons that are used in financial journalism stories in the Financial Times in London, or the Australian Financial Review in Australia.
Ideally we are looking for somebody to create a style that works with our branding, and who we can then partner with over the longer-term as we produce more content.
For now, the first project is to create a financial cartoon to go with an article we are publishing in a leading financial news journal in Australia. The article is about how the global economcy is poised to rebound strongly this year and the picture we envisaged was of a bull sitting inside a coiled spring, getting ready to fire out when the spring is released.
I have attached a cartoon published by hedgeye that shows a bull juggling grenades. The style of this is probably a little too whimisical for us, but gives a sence of the sort of idea we are talking about.
I have also attached an image from Kal's Cartoons. A famous cartoonish for the economist.
In terms of tone and style, what we seeking is a cartoon that elicits a dry smile from our reader on a serious financial topic. The style is thus somewhere between the Hedgeye cartoon, which is too whimisical, and the cartoons that Kal at the economist produces, which are too serious.
