Logo Design Brief
Old Salt Coffee is creating a US Navy branding effort for 3 different types of coffee. Each package will be centered around the efforts and hard work of the Harding working enlisted Sailor. This sailor himself needs to carry across each of the 3 coffees. However, the coffee types themselves are focused on three different communities - ships, submarines, and aviation.
Subs -
1. "Silent Service" - this coffee is dark, black, and all about stealth and strength. It something that sneaks up on you and will keep you awake on long silent watches under the ocean depth. Truly silent warriors these folks keep us out of harms way by truly understanding our potential adversaries capabilities and intentions. The package should reflect this dark, stealth in my mind with just barely visible the outline of a submarine. The back of The package Should have some historical snippets of submarine actions of years past to include thru the Cold War would be and/or On the funny side - we can joke about the term "bubble head" and perhaps have some cartoons reflecting the humorous side of the "geeks" underwater glowing around a nuclear reactor with pasty white skin.
2. "Haze Grey" - this is a working man's coffee. True "blue shirt" coffee that keeps men powered to "bust rust" and fight the effects of the sea on ships. It is "bold" and "courageous" and the package reflects both the hard working aspects of the everyday Sailor, but also the toughness of our ships at sea everyday. The backside should reflect a cartoon similar to Kevin Bacon’s “Broadside” cartoon.
3. "Aviation Theme" - don’t know what to call this coffee. Aviation is the Navy's calvary if you will - fast, agile, and lethal. Operating from afar, but bringing the fight to the enemy. It's packaging is flashy and in your face. - Definite F-35 involvement. Backside of the package should reflect the humor outside the cockpit for aviators and really be about various aircraft carrier "flight plan cartoons" - in the long run we want customer engagements and have a contest on flight plan cartoons that will grace our coffee packaging. Develops brand loyalty inside a Carrier Air Wing or Big Deck Amphib Aviation Department.
The background should also include subdued nautical charts which can be found in the attachements in this brief.
