Logo Design Brief

'Mu karanta' means 'Let's read' in the Hausa language of Nigeria and beyond. My business partner and I need a logo design for MuKaranta, our new community interest company based in London and Oxford, UK. Our focus is on mother-tongue literacy books, and teacher training. <br/><br/>We will use our new logo on our website, emails, business cards, and stationery. We'd be grateful for recommendations for an accompanying colour palette too. Our main market is educational establishments in northern Nigeria. It's important that our logo depicts an aspirational mindset, hinting at the freedom and power that literacy in the Roman script facilitates.<br/><br/> Our initial idea is an abstract depiction of an open book with a couple of pages. We suggest that two of the pages on the right could transmogrify into (very simplified) people jumping up and away - thus communicating success. A sense of left-to-right movement would be good. We'd like a full-colour version with bright colours for electronic media, and maybe a two-colour version that will photocopy well for print uses.<br/><br/>The logo should be completely pictorial. In most instances, the MuKaranta company name will appear beneath, followed by the strap line, 'Reading for Life'.
