Logo Design Brief

Im looking for a logo with an element of brand identity that I can use on a product. We are a Security company with smart home technology. I foresee the word Vertex being central to the design with an interchangeable tag line below (or somewhere else). Tag lines being Smart Systems and Student Security. <br/>If an element from to logo could be used as a stand alone to brand products. For example if the V of Vertex was a unique design then this could be used on small products to brand? Or some other small aspect. <br/>My initial thoughts for a colour is green and grey or blue and grey but am open to other creative ideas.
