Graphic Design Brief

Labels for TM Craft Beers trademark beer range.

We are a new craft beer brewery and we have developed our 4 trademark beers and we are looking for label for each beer. The labels will have to have some brand recognition between them, so that a beer lover can see it’s a TM Craft Beer on the shelf.

Each label will need to have the name and type, imagery associated with the name, company logo (supplied), alcohol percentage, grain ingredients, hop ingredients, place for the story of the beer, volume of can/bottle (330 ml with the average fill e mark) and a place for the IBU and EBC info about the beer. We are open to total creativity.

We don’t want something too busy and loud. We have color ideas for each, but we are happy to see other colors that the designers think work better. We also like the idea of icons to highlight sections – but we are not tied to this. Something that looks great and professional is what we are after.

We need two label sizes; 9 cm (h) x 20.5 cm (w) and 9 cm (h) x 18.5 cm (w) for all four labels. All the space is available for design. We would like to see all 4 designs in a mockup on 330 ml bottle and cans.

The four beers that we need labels for are:

1. Carolina Days
o This is a New England IPA and the inspiration around this beer is our time living in North Carolina. The imagery we want on this beer is North Carolina related. Mountain, trees etc.
o 6.7% vol.
o IBU = 9 and EBC = 11
o Grains: Pale Malt, Wheat Malt and Flaked Oats
o Hops: Chinook, Amarillo, Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic
o We would like the Latin quote Esse Quam Videri on the label somewhere, it plays on our story and concept
o Pastel green

2. Doric
o This is a Porter and the inspiration around the North East of Scotland. The imagery we what on this beer is North East Scotland; something like a stag. But open to ideas.
o 5.3% vol.
o IBU = 39 and EBC = 240
o Grains: Pale Malt, Black Malt, Roast Wheat Malt and Chocolate Malt
o Hops: Fuggles, Challenger and Amarillo
o Grey

3. Lily’s
o This is an American Pale Ale and the inspiration for this beer is one of the founder’s dog. She is a lovely Golden Retriever we would like the imagery to be golden retriever based.
o 5.5% vol.
o IBU = 3 and EBC = 13
o Grains: Pale Malt and Munich Malt
o Hops: Amarillo, Simcoe and Citra
o Golden

4. Czech It Out
o This is a Pilsner Beer and the inspiration for this beer is the country of Czech Republic, the home of the Pilsner. The imagery to be about the Czech Republic (flag country shape, Prague etc.)
o 4.5% vol.
o IBU = 23 and EBC = 8
o Grains: Pilsner Malt, Amber Malt and Carapils Malt
o Hops: Saaz
o Blue
