Logo Design Brief
We need a logo design for a new not-for-profit company based in Melbourne, Australia called 'Aspie Rebels'
We provide engaging activities for adults on the autism spectrum. We were founded in 2015 by an autistic professional who wanted to make an inclusive group for others on the spectrum. We are accepting of difference, and offer sporadic social gatherings, we visit cafes, pet cats, build Lego castles, get massages, walk in nature, see geeky events, read comics, browse art, engage in intellectual pursuits, and have (sometimes) therapeutic meetings. We are all about fun and social connection. Now that we are moving into the corporate/ not-for-profit realm, we need a logo to make us shine!
We would like to see a design that shows rebellion against the standard ideas of what autism is, yet something that still conveys the importance a of our group.
Please try something different, or "stand out" -- the charity circuit here is BORING. We do not want to be boring. Push us. Show us the REBEL in you.
****The attached image is the one we have been using for the past 4 years. It's nice, but we want something official and new.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW:
* The advocacy colour for autism is either blue or gold
* The advocacy symbol for autism is an infinity sign
* The advocacy movement also uses rainbow colours to show diversity
PLEASE SHOW THAT YOU HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH INTO AUTISM ADVOCACY!
AMERICANS: AUTISM SPEAKS DOES NOT SPEAK FOR AUTISTICS. Please keep the puzzle piece designs out of our logo unless you can creatively destroy the idea of the puzzle.
=====
Why 'Aspie Rebel'?
The word, rebel, originates from Old French rebelle (noun), rebeller (verb), from Latin rebellis (used originally with reference to a fresh declaration of war by the defeated), based on bellum ‘war’. When you think about how autistics are portrayed in media, and how we are ostracized from groups; well, that's like a defeat. So rise up against the system, and be a rebel. We are ASPIE REBELS!!

Requirements
Must have
- Remember you are designing this for a charity, into advocacy for autistics! Show us in your design that you have researched autism advocacy. We want the design to advocate for people, to be showing unity and togetherness whilst rebelling from the system. It should show CARE. We are a charity. We also want to stand out and be noticed. We need a logo that won't get lost in the sea of logos. One that makes people talk, think!
Nice to have
- Try to put in our tagline: Connect, Unite, Empower. -- either in words or captured in the design logo.
Should not have
- AVOID the corporate feel. If you can suitably imagine the design on a building, or in a summit alongside your country's strongest financial firm, that's the WRONG design for us. Also, the design should NOT advocate the medical model of disability.
