Logo Design Brief

The logo will need to be scalable as it will occupy 1/8th of each book cover in a series of fiction travel adventures for readers aged 9+, and perhaps an inch in diameter on the first page of each chapter. High def format with at least 300pixels per inch, easily upload able to a publishing website such as Kindle Publishing. I'm flexible with the design, but am thinking something like a muscular-looking Maltese dog running along a globe or perhaps looking out from a partial Earth. It should be simple, colorful, and reflect a daring, delightful dog.
