Logo Design Brief

I need a logo that will brand my Mad Max-styles science fiction series. The name of the series is Dark Republic.
The world of the series is very similar to those in the Mad Max movies, a post-apocalypse setting where cities are ruined and factions fight for power with heavily modified cars and motorcycles.
This is part of a relaunch of the series, in conjunction with the audiobook release later this year. I'm in the process of getting new art for the covers, and the title logos are an important part of the series' new look.
I've included a PDF with the current cover and a quick-and-dirty mockup of the new cover so you can see where the new title / logo will appear on the books.
I've also included a sample of the covert artist's work and a link to his portfolio so you can see his style, which is a bit like a graphic novel (not realistic).
The color palette for all three covers will be a light brown to rust color (think desert colors) and the title / logo will need to show up well against these.
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PDF BEFORE SUBMITTING.
The final deliverable will be 3 logos(1 for each of the books) but the only difference between them will be the book title (book 1 is Soledad, book 2 is Indigo, book 3 is El Flaco).
When submitting ideas, no need to submit all 3. Please just submit the one for the first book (Soledad).
