Logo Design Brief
A small family company based in the San Francisco Bay area needs a logo design. Drawing on former McKinsey strategic consulting experience and former EgonZehnder executive search track record, S.T.I.L. Consulting will be a business venture offering services in (1) Advisory and Coaching for Owners, company leaders and shareholders, (2) selection and evaluation of company leadership and management, and (3) implementation and optimization of advisory boards. Our aim is to become international trusted advisors to a handful of highly select clients. 2013 project works covered the United States, the UK, Switzerland, Hungary and Romania. Target customers are CEOs, other board members and HR Directors of dynamically growing small-to-medium sized companies, many of whom were former clients of McKinsey or EgonZehnder, but prefer unique, tailor-made consulting solutions with close personal involvement. Reference website in Germany: www.avspecht.com. S.T.I.L. is the abbreviation for Strategy in Leadership. The final design should get across the same messages of trustworthiness, talent management, human capital advisory, but with a more dynamic 21st century visualization of "making great people decisions".
Part of this family enterprise is another company called S.T.I.L. Research, a professional genealogy research venture, focusing on countries of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire and serving mainly North American clients. The ultimate success would be to find a uniform structure for S.T.I.L. Consulting and S.T.I.L Research, but with different nuances, symbolic difference, different color codes, etc. but with still being part of the same "portfolio of companies".

Requirements
Nice to have
- OPENING IT UP FOR OTHER DESIGN IDEAS! NO LONGER RESTRICTING CREATIVITY TO THE "S SHAPE"!!!
The logo could have a play on the shape of the S, a structure that has a point symmetry, almost returning to where it started, still having a two-sided, each-other-facing curvature. (More corporate/more human resource association in the case of S.T.I.L. Consulting, and more legacy/heritage/thing of the past informing the present in the case of S.T.I.L. Research.)
S.T.I.L. can appear as such or without the periods, like STIL.
Should not have
- The design should not be a twelve-a-dozen illustration for the Consulting professional, i.e. growth diagram, handshakes, Greek columns, dollar or other currency sign, etc. Colors suggesting youth or immaturity (pink, light orange, etc.) should be avoided, but the overly conservative color scheme (navy blue, dark red, etc.) is also not capturing it.
