We need a logo design for a 160-seat creative casual restaurant called "The Rabbit Hole", located in the center of the historic tourist town of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The Rabbit Hole is located within Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, which attracts more than a quarter million visitors each year. Harpers Ferry is famous for being the starting point for the Lewis and Clarke expedition; the home of a once massive US armory; its prominent role in US abolitionism and the US Civil War; and its natural beauty. Harpers Ferry also sits on the Appalachian Trail (a 2200 mile hiking trail running from Georgia to Maine), and at the confluence of two rivers. This brings thousands of hikers, bikers and river riders to town, in addition to the tourists visiting the National Park. Furthermore, Harpers Ferry is only 1-hour from Washington, DC, and attracts many repeat visitors coming from the Washington DC area for day trips. The entrance to the Rabbit Hole is down a narrowing path into a small door in the side of a massive 1830 federal style brick building. Upon entering, you find a cozy, warmly lit interior with exposed hand hewn wooden beams, walls covered in authentic and unique antique signs, a spring grotto, and working fireplace. One could get lost down “The Rabbit Hole” just by looking at the signs and other quirky features. The Rabbit Hole has 110 outdoor seats on a deck built into the side of a hill, overlooking the mountains and the confluence of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers at the world-famous Harpers Ferry Gap, of which Thomas Jefferson described is "worth the trip across the Atlantic"; it is one of the best views in the region. The final design should communicate (1) mystique that makes one want to come inside just to find out what they will find, (2) a fun, casual, whimsical atmosphere, (3) character/uniqueness. We are NOT looking for a "cutesy" design, although a design with a long-eared rabbit or hare in it would be interesting, though not a requirement. The incorporation of subtle clues that the establishment is a restaurant would also be interesting to see, though also not a requirement. We are very open to all ideas, just please nothing too cutesy. We have included a few logos/images/fonts that we like.
