Graphic Design Brief
Though we already have current artwork for this show, we were so happy with the last project we launched (for another show) that we figured we'd continue with DesignCrowd to create new key art (logo graphic) for this show.
"Paper or Plastic" is a musical that we will be licensing to high schools even though we also are in conversation to take it Off-Broadway. It's a beautifully-messy story about two teens — Paige, a charming young woman who comes from an affluent family; and Gabe, a conflicted boy from a middle-class, suburban family — who both long for their own place in the world apart from their home in Nichols Hills, Oklahoma.
The show is written by four different writers (two librettists and two songwriters); and the score as an acoustic pop-rock feel to it, also mixing colors of folk Americana and blue-eyed soul, with hints of country/bluegrass.
We would like the key art/logo to be very mobile (meaning we can use it in multiple layouts, including: posters, flyers, social media, print/web banners, in video splashes, on websites, and on the covers of scripts and stationary). It must also have a rustic vibe to it and include the illustrations of the two kids — Paige & Gabe — below, using any ONE of the combo-placements (or creating your own placement) below.
We would like the logo to revolve around the title/text, and we would like it to also have somewhat of a pencil sketch texture (if possible, but we're also totally open to other ideas) since our character, Paige, is an aspiring sketch-based fashion designing who has dreams of attending Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising/FIDM in Los Angeles.
Although we are open to any color scheme, we are quite fond of the poster having a rustic feel (like browns and canvas), but also want it to appeal to high school audiences — so we are also very open-minded to other visions.
We are attaching a photo of our current key art, plus the individual PNG versions of the illustrations of the teens, plus versions of them together.
Also, if you so choose to and/or if they fit into your design, you can include the following credits:
Book by HAZEL JADE & JEFF BROWN
Music & Lyrics by JOE STEVENS & KEATON WOODEN
And also optional are secondary credits (which must be smaller if they're used after the previous credits in a secondary placement):
Original Concept by MISS HAZEL JADE
Production Dramaturgy by ADAM DAVID MARINO
Music Supervision & Arrangements by AMANDA RAFKIN
Finally, as also mentioned in our previous project, two big firms that design logos that we love are:
1. www.SpotNYC.com
2. www.AKA.nyc
There's no rush on this project, we just want killer new key art.
Also, we'd really prefer if the final design be additionally delivered in either Adobe Illustrator (AI) or InDesign (ID).

Requirements
Must have
- It must have the title: PAPER OR PLASTIC
- It should the subtitle: A New Musical
- It must have the illustration of the teenagers.
- It can have the credits mentioned above.
Nice to have
- One of the biggest words we use for our musical and characters is CHARM. It must have a charming, rustic feel to it because it's set in Oklahoma; and these characters, despite the pressure put on them by their parents, are charming kids who just want a chance to show their worth.
- At the same time, we're fans of grungy modern posters.
