Graphic Design Brief

I am looking to update an emblem design for a Coast Guard Senior Leadership association. Our current design is included as the first attachment, and is a bit dated and cartoony. We are a small group of senior enlisted members that provide guidance and operational leadership to Coast Guardsmen across the eastern coast of Florida.As some general ideas: I would like to keep the outer ring as a "rope" look, with "Space & Treasure Coast" along the top arc and "Chief's Mess" along the bottom arc. Where the dots flank each side of the emblem, two nautical stars (points down) in their place. For the center graphic, I would like to update the shuttle with a rocket (second attachment), with a faint/blended image of an old treasure galleon coming from the smoke (attachment 3-4). Please feel free to take some artistic license with the project. You know better what flows together and looks good.
