So, here goes my question: please clarify tiny detail in your brief:

Do you want to use your existing logo and arrange supplementary visuals to show centenary (100 yrs) or you want to REDESIGN your existing Logo as well as additionally add supplementary visuals to show centenary?

So, sorry to say, but your wording "a special one to use next year" doesn't really convey the scope of the work ( your needs to take into account) to to do.
