Logo Design Brief
We are seeking a logo for a nonprofit association of college faculty and doctoral students who research and teach management (broadly). The organization has been around for over 3 decades and its motto is "Where Scholarship and Collegiality Meet". As a group we love our profession, and are very collegial and supportive, meeting annually for an academic conference somewhere between Maine and DC and inland as far as Pittsburgh, PA. The design might signal any of these themes: intellectual curiosity, knowledge, management, or our region. Our acronym has been EAM, and we are an affiliate of the Academy of Management (AOM).
Additionally, every other year for decades we have offered a popular international conference, at interesting locations around the world. This is referred to as EAM-I or Eastern Academy of Management International. Ideally, our new logo could be adapted so that a clearly related version can be used to promote this conference, and that logo be adapted to refer to Eastern Academy of Management International or EAM-I.

Requirements
Must have
- the logo text (clear/readable)
Nice to have
- something else to make the text stand out and could become recognizable over time to a larger audience even if they aren't members, such as an abstract representation or a pictorial one) that signals either region, interaction.
Should not have
- A globe as the primary logo for EAM (if a second version of the logo is created for EAM-I, the globe would be useful add-on if it could be done without destroying the look of the primary logo). Note: Our current logo has been around for a decade or more; it's a cursive lower case 'eam' (and for the international conference, that same swirl with an i added on: 'eam-i'). It looks like an ocean wave or 'mom' and is unreadable, as well as unrecognizable to people outside of longtime members, and does not translate well to social media sites.
