Logo Design Brief

We run a golf magazine called Hacker. We'd like a simple logo design, incorporating the magazine's title, to put on shirts / caps and stationery etc..
We'd like the design to look like golf, but want it modern - a little bit out there (like us). Our by-line is "Not taking the game too seriously"
We'd like to use it single or two tone only.
Definition of a golf hacker - An ordinary player. Somewhat synonymous with "duffer". But "duffer" is sometimes used to denote weaker players in general, while "hacker" is often applied to a single golfer as an insult. Hacker is a little bit stronger than duffer, in other words.
However we don't want the image to be demeaning - more a golfer trying to whack the crap out of a golf ball!
